Mr and Mrs Fisher, Kilmardinny House, Bearsden, Glasgow

There’s something special about a couple who know exactly what they want from their wedding soundtrack, and Rebecca and Jonathan were a perfect example. When they got in touch ahead of their big day at Kilmardinny House, the brief was simple but brilliant, Rebecca wanted pure pop and 00s/10s throwback bangers, and Jonathan wanted 90s club classics with a healthy dose of The Proclaimers. As their wedding DJ, that kind of clarity is a gift, and on the 4th of September 2026, it made for one of the most fun nights I’ve had behind the decks this year.

Kilmardinny House itself is a stunning setting for a wedding. The historic Georgian mansion provided an elegant setting, but inside, the focus was entirely on a full-energy, non-stop party. Tucked away in its own grounds, the historic mansion has that lovely blend of grandeur and warmth that makes it easy to fill a room with energy once the formalities are done and the party gets going. As a wedding DJ working across Glasgow and the wider Scotland area, I always love venues like this one, the acoustics and the atmosphere just work.

We eased into the evening with some proper feel-good classics, Earth, Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, ABBA, the kind of songs that get every generation on the floor from the very first note. From there, things built beautifully into Jonathan’s 90s club classics: Snap!, Gala, Corona, N-Trance, and Pet Shop Boys all made an appearance, alongside anthems like Spice Girls’ “Wannabe,” Steps’ “Tragedy,” and the Macarena for good measure. If you were on the dancefloor at Kilmardinny House that night, you’ll know exactly the kind of energy I mean.

Then Rebecca’s side of the brief took over with the 00s and 10s throwbacks, Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Murder on the Dancefloor,” Robbie Williams’ “Rock DJ,” and a run of throwback mash-up intros including “On the Floor,” “Danza Kuduro,” and “Give Me Everything” that had the whole room singing along.

And, of course, no Scottish wedding is complete without The Proclaimers. We closed out the night the right way, with “Sunshine on Leith,” “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles),” and Runrig’s “Loch Lomond” bringing everyone together for one last, arms-round-shoulders singalong, the kind of moment that always tells me a wedding has gone exactly the way it should.
